Zonta Breast Cushion Project

Zonta Breast Cushions are provided as a community service, for women, after breast surgery. The cushion is used for support while sleeping, protection while shopping or from pressure of a seat belt, and for comfort.BCPoster

They are made by members and friends of Zonta Clubs.
2014 – Our November Breast Cushion Workshop was well attended by seven members and two friends; together we completed 34 cushions for women undergoing breast surgery at Burnside War Memorial Hospital. Many thanks to Prue Cowled for allowing us to take over her home for the evening!

2013 – It was a good year for the breast cushion project for the Zonta Club of Adelaide Torrens.  We held a number of workshops throughout the years where we filled, sewed and wrapped 270 cushions in preparation for delivery to the Burnside Hospital.  The workshops were generally held monthly in the homes of Chris Harvey, Joan Möller and Jan Seeger.

We received a number of thank you letters and donations from people who had treatment at the Hospital.

In October we gratefully received a $1,000 community grant for 2013/14 year form the Burnside Council which goes a long way to assisting us to finance this important project.

Many thanks are due to Zonta Club Sydney Hills Inc for purchasing and cutting the material and the wonderful women at Hilton Hemz for sewing the initial forms.
